I have restarted since adding my user to the vboxsf group. The following is code from an addUser script that is run like addUser username. It seems that no matter how I mount it, I cannot change permissions of any folders or files in the new share (they keep the mask of the way the share is mounted). In the resulting popup ( Figure A ), click the Folder Path drop-down and select Other. I have an auto-mount folder that maps to my D: drive on the host which I can access using sudo ls /media/sf_D_DRIVE - however, even when my user (ross) is a member of the vboxsf group I get a permission denied error when attempting to explore it. I have created a shared folder that I mount in the debian host. From the Settings window, select Shared Folders. 2) Click on the Green cross on the top right to add a new Shared Folder 3) Fill out the form by selecting which folder you want to shared between your machines. The folder appears as mounted underneath the Devices in Files, and it appears as shared on the Host machine. I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 (guest) on Windows 7 (host) with the guest additions installed. 1) Open Virtualbox, select your OS on the left then click on Shared Folders on the right.
